Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim visited the Jeffrey D. Schwartz Jewish Community Center (JCC)

Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim visited the Jeffrey D. Schwartz Jewish Community Center (JCC), where she was received by Founder Jeffrey D. Schwartz, accompanied by Carl and Virginia Chien. The visit reflected Taiwan’s continued engagement with Jewish culture and its recognition of the importance of cultural dialogue in international relations.

Through a guided tour of the Mikveh, the Vice President gained insight into how Jewish law is lived and preserved in contemporary society. She then explored the museum collection, including the Chair of Elijah from Iran and a 17th-century Torah from Tunisia, tracing the historical, spiritual, and diasporic journey of the Jewish people.

The visit extended beyond exhibition spaces into everyday culture. By learning about kosher traditions, the Vice President experienced how values, ethics, and community identity are expressed through daily practice—an approach that closely reflects Mr. Schwartz’s founding vision for JTCA and JCC: building understanding through lived culture.

The visit underscored JTCA’s role as a vital cultural bridge between Taiwan and the Jewish world, fostering meaningful exchange through history, tradition, and shared human values.
