The Taipei International Women’s Club (TIWC) recently held one of its regular luncheon gatherings at the Jeffrey D. Schwartz Jewish Community Center.
In addition to sharing updates about the club’s own activities, the luncheon was designed with a series of talks woven naturally into the dining experience, allowing conversation and learning to unfold around the table.
As part of the program, a Jewish culture talk was specially arranged, introducing the JCC’s architectural design, cultural context, and the everyday philosophy behind kosher cuisine. Rather than following a traditional guided tour format, the talk was integrated into the flow of the meal, creating a relaxed setting where cultural learning felt accessible and unforced.
This approach offered many guests a new perspective on the JCC—not only as a place to visit or dine, but as a space where cultural lectures and educational exchanges can take place in varied and flexible ways, encouraging deeper understanding and dialogue.
The gathering was also honored by the presence of Mrs. Yukari Katayama, spouse of the Japanese Representative to Taiwan, adding an international dimension to the cultural exchange.
Through moments like these, the JCC continues to explore ways for cultural education to move beyond conventional settings—finding space at the table, within conversations, and in the shared experience of a community coming together.
