Building What Comes Next
Building What Comes Next
Once a Jewish community begins to take root, the most important question is not only how far we have come, but—
What do we build next?
This August, Chabad shluchim from across Asia gathered in Taipei.
After 40 years of growth, Jewish life across Asia is entering a new stage—and the Kinus Hashluchim gave us an opportunity to look ahead.
Because building Jewish life never truly has a finish line.
The next chapter starts now.
When there is a place to pray, the next step is creating a place for children to learn.
When families and communities begin to grow, the next step is helping the younger generation find their place.
And as communities continue to develop, the next step is building stronger foundations for education, Kosher life, Mikveh, and community support.
Across Asia, Jewish communities are also facing new challenges—from security and emergency needs to education and passing traditions from one generation to the next.
Moving forward means thinking together about how each community can continue to grow.
That is why, during this year’s Asian Kinus Hashluchim, Founder Jeffrey D. Schwartz and Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky jointly announced the establishment of the Jeffrey D. Schwartz Asia Fund, which will be advanced through Keren Hashluchim.
The fund is designed to support the next stage of Jewish life across Asia—
helping establish new Chabad centers,
supporting new emissary families coming to Asia,
developing Jewish education and youth programs,
building essential infrastructure such as Mikveh and Kosher facilities,
and providing support when communities face urgent needs.
For Jeffrey D. Schwartz, this is a continuation of a long-term commitment.
Because building a Jewish community is never completed by a building, an event, or a single gathering.
It takes people willing to come,
people willing to stay,
people willing to invest,
and generation after generation willing to carry the tradition forward.
From the experience of Taiwan to communities across Asia,
our hope is not simply to help more Jewish people find services in Asia.
It is to help create places where people can:
pray, learn, build families, raise the next generation, celebrate Jewish life, and truly live.
This is the next chapter we believe in.
From Jewish service to Jewish life.
From building communities to building their future.
What comes next?
We build what comes next.
