🎨 A Light of Art, Shining from Here to the World — A Moment of Honor for Mauricio Avayu! 🕊️

Many of you may remember the “Genesis” panel in our museum—an artwork that leads its viewers into the Torah. This masterpiece was hand-painted by Jewish artist Mauricio Avayu and is one of the crown jewels of our JCC.

Today, we are overjoyed to share some wonderful news: Mauricio Avayu was recently commissioned to create special works of art for three world leaders—former U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Argentine President Javier Milei. Each received a hand-painted tambourine featuring his original artwork “Am Israel Chai” (“The People of Israel Live”), a piece that embodies the Jewish spirit and resilience.

This is more than just an honor. It is a profound affirmation of Jewish art and a heartfelt tribute to Mauricio Avayu’s lifelong dedication to embedding faith, memory, and heritage into every brushstroke.

As our founder, Mr. Jeffrey D. Schwartz, beautifully put it:

“Mauricio’s art transcends the canvas. It has become a modern-day Mishkan—a sacred dwelling—through which the Jewish spirit is seen, connected, and sanctified in our time.”

Mauricio’s work is not simply something to admire—it is something to feel.

Through it, we don’t just see—we remember.

We don’t just observe—we connect.

In the near future, alongside the Genesis panel, Mauricio’s “Exodus” series will also be unveiled at our museum—forming what will be the largest Jewish religious mural installation of its kind in the world.

In these challenging times, we are proud of Mauricio and deeply moved that this light of Jewish art, born here in Taiwan, continues to shine brightly in Israel and across the Jewish world.
