致我摯愛的母親—JCC的靈感之源
Dear Friends,

In this edition of our newsletter, I want to introduce someone who has been a profound influence—not just in my personal life, but in the very soul of JCC and JTCA. She is an extraordinary woman, a wellspring of inspiration, and the foundation of the values we cherish—my mother, Eleanor Schwartz.

This month, she celebrated her 97th birthday, a milestone that fills my heart with deep gratitude and reflection. As I honor her, I am reminded of how she has shaped my understanding of culture, faith, and values. She has been my unwavering support, my guiding light, and the greatest teacher of my life.

Throughout the years, my mother has stood by me with unconditional love, believing in the power of culture and the mission I have dedicated myself to. Every time I walk through the halls of JCC, witnessing people learn, connect, and engage, I think of her. The values she instilled in me are embedded in every brick, in every interaction, in every moment within this community. JCC is more than a home for the Jewish community in Taiwan—it is a bridge that shares Jewish heritage with the broader society.

I invite you to join me in celebrating Eleanor Schwartz, my beloved mother, and sending her warm wishes!

Leading the conversation was Aviv Doron, Head of the Israel Economic and Trade Mission in Taiwan, who captivated attendees with his insights on "Israel & Taiwan – Resilient Economies and Complementary Opportunities." The event drew a diverse audience of professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders eager to explore new pathways for bilateral trade, investment, and innovation.

During his talk, Aviv highlighted Taiwan’s strong foundation for building a sustainable and innovation-driven economy. He emphasized Taiwan’s strategic geographic location, cutting-edge technological leadership, and highly skilled workforce—all of which make it a key player in the global market. As an essential hub in the Asia-Pacific region, Taiwan excels in semiconductors, smart technology, and biomedical industries, securing its position as a critical link in the world’s tech supply chain. Moreover, Taiwan’s robust education system fosters groundbreaking research and innovation, making it an ideal partner for forward-thinking economies like Israel.

Aviv also introduced several key initiatives led by the Israel Economic and Trade Mission, aimed at strengthening corporate partnerships, facilitating technology transfers, and driving bilateral trade growth. 5785 Purim Celebration — A Joyous Gathering of Tradition, Community, and Festive Delights at JCC!
5785 普珥節派對 — 傳統 ✦ 歡樂 ✦ 美食，盡在 JCC！

Every year, as the month of Adar arrives (this year in March), both children and adults eagerly anticipate the joyous celebration of Purim. This year was no exception! We came together at the Jeffrey D. Schwartz Jewish Community Center (JCC) for a vibrant Purim party filled with laughter, tradition, and a deep sense of community. Being surrounded by friends—sharing delicious food, festive moments, and meaningful customs—reminded me once again why we built this center: to create a space where Jewish life and culture can flourish.

Purim is one of the most lively and spirited holidays in Jewish tradition, commemorating a story of resilience, hope, and triumph. As we read the Book of Esther, we reflect on the strength and wisdom that helped the Jewish people overcome adversity. Dressing up in costumes reminds us of life’s unexpected miracles, while exchanging gifts and sharing festive meals reinforce the values of kindness and unity. At JCC, seeing these traditions come to life in such an authentic and heartfelt way was truly moving.

On the day of the celebration, the joy was contagious! Adults and children alike arrived in creative costumes, bringing an extra spark of excitement to the festivities. We indulged in Hamantaschen, the classic Purim treat symbolizing victory, alongside an array of delicious foods. The room was filled with laughter and energy as we played games, exchanged stories, and celebrated together. These moments of connection are what I cherish the most—this is the very essence of JCC: a place where Jewish culture thrives, traditions are honored, and people from all over the world find a home away from home.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us in making this Purim celebration so unforgettable! I look forward to sharing many more holidays and joyful moments with all of you at JCC in the future.

當天，活動現場充滿了歡樂與活力！大人小孩們穿上創意十足的服裝，讓節慶氛圍更加熱鬧。我們一起品嚐象徵勝利的「哈曼的耳朵」（Hamantaschen），搭配豐盛的美食佳餚。遊戲區笑聲不斷，大家沉浸在溫馨而愉悅的社群氛圍中。這些與大家共度的時光，是我最珍惜的瞬間——這正是 JCC 的核心價值：一個讓猶太文化蓬勃發展、傳統深耕傳承，並讓來自世界各地的朋友都能找到歸屬感的地方。
